Shocks were replaced. Truth be told, should have done this before leaving. Wasn't but a short way into trip and noticed rears were wasted.
Went with Terrafirma Big Bore this time around. This is my second set of rears, Bilsteins, that gave up prematurally.
About 7000 miles into trip the exhaust manifold gasket let loose, cylinder 4. Replaced gasket. Come to find out, rear manifold bolt was missing or fell out, causing the gasket to fail.
All back together, even spent some time re-working the turbo down pipe, which was new...but never really fit right. It had always leaked a little bit, but after reshaping the pipe and getting it all the way slid on...she's as quiet as a mouse...and no fumes.
Added some LED tail and turn lights in rear. The internals of these lights, socket, are made of plastic. So, between the heat of the bulb and vibration and the utter cheapness of them...the bulbs fall out. Four or five times during my trip l'd pull the lens and wedge something along side the bulb to hold it in place. Typically Land Rover field repair.
NOW, this was pure stupidity on my part or l'd just got to the point where..."l'm leaving and whatever happens, happens"...because this item should have definitely been changed prior to leaving...clutch/viscous fan. She ran warmer than l 'd of like to see on a couple occasions. I'd open the hood to let her cool down. You could tell the fan was just free-wheeling. Had a brand new one on the shelf at home. It had quite the wobble by the time l got home, too. Install it the new one, it's a wind tunnel now.
Had a small fuel leak at fuel pump, when l got to Dawsons Creek. Line going from pump, fittimg, to filter housing. Changed that and fuel pump. Fuel pump was leaking a little oil out of the housing and l had a newer one on the other engine removed...so a no cost repair.
Took the old girl for a ride...and she's like new now! No fumes and John Deere tractor sound effects, no leaks, ran cool even at 81 degrees out and when we took Dalton for his first vet check...she rode like a dream. Going to order HD front shocks and install them.
Dalton, and his new collar. And his...you ever try and put another collar on me again...l kill you, your family and chew every shoe you own into tinny pieces...do you understand...
Well, she's just about ready to hit the road again!!! Just have to deal with rear axle fill plug and l'm going to pull all the wheels and inspect and pack wheel bearings.

Darn it...been getting one of the Dll's in the garage ready to go bye-bye to that big junkyard in the sky. Was all ready to call flatbed driving buddy (which is a suggested necessity, if you own a LR) to come take her away...but Victoria all of a sudden has gotten super stubborn and refuses to move. Starter seems to be the issue. 16F today and next week some really tough numbers head our way. Figures, was driving her just about everyday, up until wanting to move her out of the way, to get Dll out of garage. Even told her the plan was to move her inside afterwards...but she doesn't seem to believe me. Darn women anyway...
This was a couple days before...32F, toasty warm...look at the temp gauge...movement!
Funny, you pretty much get use to not having any heat with the 200tdi diesel...so it becomes the normal mode of operation. Other day l'm taking my wife to lunch in the Colorado...it's about 15F. We get about ten miles from the house and she says..."aren't you going to turn the heat on?" I was like???..."oh, yeah...forgot this vehicle has that."
Axle cover done, looked pretty clean inside and no metal shavings.
Had new tire mounted, after puncturing sidewall dragging downed trees out back for neighbor. Rotated tires and checked all brake linings and pads.
Ohmed glowplugs, all of them were toast, ordered new ones.
Installed rear sway bar, mine had been removed, and with RTT it would get a little exciting at times. Chris Ray (Mud Rutts) had one and sent it my way, looking forward to seeing the difference.
Next up, resolving starting issue. After removing turbo down pipe and a few other odds and ends to get to starter, removed small wire from ignition and connected my remote starter. Pressed button...cranked over fine. Tried it about five times without fail. Small wire from ignition looked cruddy, so cleaned it up and squeezed terminal end so it would fit tighter on spade, slide it on, cranked over three times without fail, fourth time...nothing. Darn. Spliced in a new terminal end and a little extra wire, slide it on spade of starter, cranked over three times prefectly, fourth...nothing. Darn it! Finally, 'assumed' it must have a bad spot on armature...so off comes the starter.
Set it on bench...and...what do l see...
Missing nut on bottom large stud on solenoid. Must have vibrated off, and that explains why it was intermittent for a while. Cleaned stud and terminal and added a nut.
Reinstalled, started several times without fail.
Notice a few more repairs that needed done...so added them to list in previous post.
Feels good to have her running again, and having decent weather/temps to be able to get out in the garage.
Making me jealous you are living the dream with your 110 lol
I need to get this P38 done so I can get back to work on the 110. I am so close to having it on the road
Oh, you'll get her done...you were moving right along prior to Roverball.
l'm just glad mine is starting again. Pain in behind to get the 'better half' involved in pull starting it. Usually cost me. Her rule is...if we leave the house together...she gets breakfast or lunch or dinner out. I'm like...we're just going outside together...but her reasoning is...we're leaving the interior of the house at the same time...so it qualifies. Believe, I'm going to have to get an attorney involved...
