[HELP] Rubbing Sound
#11
However if you tear into it and find out that there is more wrong with it than you can handle/have the parts for then what?
If there is dirt in there because of a bad seal is the piston going to be scored?
Is there a bad passage way inside the caliper?
Thats why I would just buy professionally rebuilt ones.
Keep in mind that you can drive it in its current state until you get the money.
You may need to replace your brake pads when you do the calipers but they are only rubbing alittle.
If they were locked up and heating things up then no you could not drive it.
But just alittle rubbing is no big deal in my opinion.
Whens your birthday?
I usually ask for Rover parts or accessories for birthdays, Christmas and Fathers Day.

When do you graduate?
Can you maybe get all "A"'s for a pair of calipers? (I could insert a Asian joke in here but I wont )
How freely do the wheels spin what you spin them by hand?
Do they make at least one complete revolution when you spin them and then let go?
Or are they hard to spin? Like it takes to hands?
Maybe offer to do extra chores around the house?
While the calipers should be replaced in pairs, you can do one at a time because of money constraints.

Haha life would stink without a sense of humor.
Yeah, I need to get back to work. Haven't found a job since I moved here. Kinda hard, small town and nobody is looking for extra help. Even the places you think would need help like Wal-Mart don't. Summer might be better, talked to some mechanics in town and they said maybe over the summer they could use me (plus they said their insurance companies for their shops are nagging..female dogs..) Not relying on that though, filling out applications everywhere.. Stinks being under 18. But Christmas is coming, maybe I can get cash?

Will the duralast calipers from autozone suffice? I can't afford the $200 Proline from Rovers North..Unless I buy one at a time. But what if I buy the rear right (which I know is the problem because it won't spin at all and I saw the shavings from the pad) but what if the problem persists? Then I wouldn't be able to return the caliper, still have the problem, and be SOL with two mad guardians..
Sorry for the late response, I've been away on vacation.
EDIT:
I also found Centric Brake Calipers for $38 on http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...e_caliper.html
Any comments on these? I'm trying to save money without wasting on performance. If it comes down to it I'm willing to buy the Pro Line one at a time..

Take it from a guy who advocates "Disco on a Budget",the Duralast calipers will work just fine.
As well as Duralast brake pads or the Centric ones or used ones from a junk yard...just buy whatever you can afford and forget about it.
You will go bankrupt trying to buy the "best" parts you can for your truck.
Your truck will never know the difference.
So the Duralast pads dont last as long, lifetime warranty so who cares?
I am a FedEx driver, I eat brakes for lunch, middle of the road brake pads from NAPA is what I use.
Good enough for my work truck where I rely on the brakes all day every day, good enough for everything else.
Lifes short, enjoy it.
Dont sweat the small stuff.
One life, live it.
I could go on, point is, dont worry about it.
