So I labeled all my plug wires and cylinders before I pulled the wires out to make putting it back together easier and I noticed something kinda odd. when I looked under my distributor cap by some of the posts there are very small cracks (see red circles in picture below). And those cracks seem to correlate to the cylinders with gas in them... figure they are missing spark, then flooding? o well be back soon gotta see if she will fire up. Your dizzy cap is bad.
Those cracks are causing spark leak, the spark is "leaking" out of those cracks.
Always replace the cap and rotor at the same time.

Notice made in Italy on the cap. Isn't the Bosch or Lucas a better cap? Just asking.

Yes the OEM cap is the preferred one to use.

Well still no luck. I'm gonna start looking into the timing some more. I'll try un-hooking the cap and turning it slightly a few degrees in each direction while trying to start. My question about the timing is, is there something that would make it off suddenly? From what I have read it is set at the factory and that's that. Even if someone messed it up it wouldn't change it would just stay messed up. If you look back at the photos I posted before my vacuum advance was missing a screw and sticking out slightly. What would be the symptoms of a distributor going out? It only ran poorly the day before it wouldn't start previous to that it started right up as good or better than anything I've owned. Then it ran poorly (miss/stall/hesitate) in lower rpm's but if I gassed it it would run fine, then no start. Is there something simple I might be missing? sensor ect... As always any help is appreciated!!

Check how much of a movement you have on the rotor inside of the distributor.Rotor have springs and weights on the inside of the distributor ,they change timing as they spin...when you press gas they are pulled outwards by centrifugal force , then at normal idle weights are pulled in by small springs they could fall off specially if you change a rotor and don't hold the body .This could change your timing .To know for sure try to move rotor left right , it should always return in the original position by force of those springs. If it doesn't means spring or weight is unhooked.Let us know.
