Will grab a torch and start hunting, thanks.

The other three switch settings--SMOKE, SMOLDER and IGNITE."

LUCAS aka "The Prince of Darkness"

Good luck with the storm guys!

I love a mystery! In an Australian Spec', early 98 Disco 1, RHD, the ECU is located in the driver's footwell behind the kick panel. Will attack it this weekend and report back. Best news is when I was looking under seats etc. I found all the original books, service history as well, bonus!

The 94/95's North American Spec trucks have the ECU in the same place.....except it's the passengers footwell over here....! And you found a gold mine under the seat!

Yes, the Prince of Darkness........

Default Problem Solved!

It only took 5 years, but we have finally cracked it - a bad Engine ECM/ECU. I bought a used ECU on ebay, same model number as the existing one. Plugged it in up at the shop and we had to 'Learn' the immobilizer code with the Autologic. If you don't use the Learn function, it will turn over but not fire. After using the Autologic she fired up and is running beautifully for 100 miles in all kinds of driving! For the record, the ECM/ECU on my 96 Disco NAS is in the engine bay right side, immediately next to the washer fluid. I would love to meet the rocket scientist that put this computer where it is prone to flooding!

Thanks everyone for helping solve this.. Good luck Aus with your Disco - keep us posted.

Thanks. I think were in the final stretch now, not much left to swap out. Looking on the bright side becuse of all the new parts on the wagon its average age is now 13 years, making it a '99!

AND THE WINNER IS..................................Corroded connector on the ECU!
Cleaned, crimped, magic.
Wagon has been happily for days now.

Many thanks to all involved.

Just reading your informative posting and you mention that you had to 'Learn' the immobilizer code with the Autologic. Just needing to ask how do you accomplish this step. I just bought a 96 disco and has similar problem. Apprciate the help.
