Default 1997 discovery timing issue I think

It's a 1997 discovery with what seems to be a timing issue. Before it died there was no power and it almost led me to think fuel pump. It has the electronic ignition but I don't know how to adjust it. It will run on small doses of starting fluid but sounds like its running on 4 cylinders then backfires thru the intake. It cranks over like it's missing or theres no compression. I haven't done a compression test yet, will this weekend but I'm convinced it's the timing. How do I adjust it? It has around 120,000 miles. Does anyone know where I can download a manual on this thing? I wish they had the diesels over here, what were they thinking not bringing them?lol. Something this size and still 28mpg, they would be more cost effective than a hybrid....

You can't ajust timing with the electronic ignition. Have you done a tune up? Is there fuel pressure at the rail? here is the link for Rave manual:

And when did you last replace your fuel filter?
