Default 1997 Discovery won't go into gear

It starts and runs with no problem, however it will not move when placed in drive or reverse gear.

Arghh! Any ideas folks?

I saw one thread not long ago about a similar problem, I think his would move in reverse but just barely and did not want to move at all in drive.

His turned out to be theParking Brake was so damn tight it was holding the Disco back from moving.

Also the obvious, have you checked tranny fluid? Was it working good previously?

You have provided almost no info to base a helpful answer on, like miles, what year it is, has it been serviced regularly? did you just get it or had it a while?

I'm going with obvious, the transfercase slipped into neutral.

Yeah, check the transfer case, that would definitely stop you going either direction.

If we don't hear more, Tweak was right. LOL

I've done dumber, like no re-start @ gas station cuz' it was in gear.

Took 10 mins to figure out.

when D1 TC is in neutral does it not make the annoying chime, or is that a DII thing only?
