They didn’t make a 97 Camel Trophy edition per say. That was the XD. Which sounds like the one you have that some think is a “Camel Trophy” edition. Yellow, black wheels, roof rack, etc?

Best?? Amaright?

they did in other markets than NA, and they were sandglow not AA. basically a SD with a 3.9 and roof rack.

Idle air control
88, did you make sure the air passage ports either side of the IACV are clean and clear? The IACV is supposed to control the amount of air passing by the throttle plate to maintain idle rpm around 700 +/- 50 or so, after higher initial idle during warm-up. Base idle with no bypass is typically only 500 rpm, so it could be no air is getting past the IACV. Actually, when we step on the gas, we are really opening up the air intake. I guess if no air was getting through, then it wouldn't idle well when first started either. Now I've confused myself (not hard to do).

After that, besides checking fuel pressure, and maybe injector connections, I would check for a good spark at each cylinder. How are your wires and plugs? But it should throw a misfire code if you have a bad plug. No pending codes? Do you have an OBD reader? I had a VW that would run bad if the MAF sensor went out, then had to unplug it to get it to run again. I think you can monitor the MAF sensor with an OBD reader too. I think I'm over thinking it, but there are so many possibilities...
