Default Adjusting idle on 1997 Disc1

I read someplace that dealers charge $100 to adjust the base idle. Can Indy shops do same but cheaper? The idle has been a steady 2300 RPM's. Thanks

A indie shop may beable to, it all depends on if they have the right computer equipment.

Do you have any vacuum leaks?

We did and fixed them. We took apart plenum for cleaning, and from what I read, once one does that, the idle needs to be adjusted. Also, cleaned stepper motor and installed new TSP. In doing the diagnostic check, there were no problems, even when car was running 2300 RPM's. Thanks

Well with no vacuum leaks then like I said you need a shop with the correct computer to plug into the Rover ECU amd adjust the idle.
Rover uses TestBook.

I had the same issue, the stepper motor was faulty. do you know if your stepper motor is good? I went through hell trying to find the high idle issue. I tried the jeep one and that did not work. land rover charges a $99 diagnostic fee but you will know for sure what your issue is. my local mechanic does not have a t4 computer so the only way they had to test was by pulling plugs on sensors which damaged my ecu. also, i bought an aftermarket stepper motor new and the issue with those is the computer can move the stepper motor, but can not read the position. I ended up buying a LR one and it worked fine. I actually have an oe stepper motor I am about to list on ebay that works great. 252-617-0310
