Default 1998 Discovery 1

I bought this 98 discovery in Oklahoma yesterday. Its been a Texas/Oklahoma vehicle all its life. So no rust and no evidence of being off road. Appears to be well sorted at 161000 miles . My plan is to fix all the small things that don't work. Then in the future convert to a 5 speed manual. If you have had a shop do that conversion you might send me a message. I don't think it is something I will do myself. Looking forward to learning discovery's and spending time on the forum.

Nice looking truck! I wouldn't mess with converting it to a manual transmission, lots of details and then you would have to shift all the time. I think the D1 has the best setup and in my opinion (slightly biased) does the job better than most. At 161xxx miles, you may have a few other issues come up that might be more important than converting it to a manual transmission. The little things add up quickly. been there, still there.

Not a bad truck, thanks. But like most used vehicles a few hidden quirks. I have a 1980 Rover SD1 car 5 speed manual, so I'm used to Rovers way of doing things. I'm still looking for a factory 5 speed Discovery. Which would be the easiest way to go. I've spent a lot of time reading old posts lately. A big help.
