1999 discovery 1. idles high
My dicovery idles high at aboy 1700 rpm and fluxuates up n down and it eating gas and is driving me insane pleaseeeee. help lol i replaced the throttle body sensor didnt fix nothing. i looked at the mass air flow sensor seems to be working and is clean as a whip no vacum leak that i can see or hear or feel. any ideas guy ? On the plenum there is little motor. That motor is the Steper motor. Some people have luck taking it out and cleaning it but you may need a new one. And to make matters worse you may have to take it to the dealer to get reprogram

Using brake cleaner with no straw spray around the engine, if the idle speed drops for a second pay attention to that area and spray more brake cleaner and look for a vacuum leak in the area.
The vacuum leak will ingest the brake clean and flood the engine slowing the idle speed.
Typically when the stepper motor goes bad it wont idle but runs fine if your foot is on the gas.
The bottom of the intake plenum is a common vacuum leak point.
Yes remove your IACV, clean it, clean the port it goes in, but do NOT move the plunger.
The vacuum leak will ingest the brake clean and flood the engine slowing the idle speed.
