Default 200tdi project

Hi Guys&Gals,
I'm working on getting a 200tdi engine together which will run without electricity....don't ask!
So far I've found out there's no ECU,the injector pump is mechanical, the fuel stop solenoid is removable so the engine wont stop when started...thought I'd cracked it! only to find out that the fuel pump is electrical on one of the discos I'm looking at. Do all 200tdi's have an electric fuel pump? That is the question! and if so anybody got any insights into a mechanical unit to fit which will do the job.
Thanks Spike I guess this is the D1 section, Happy trails Pete

Hi Folks! google our friend, I've just found out that a mechanical fuel pump is available. Does anybody know which 200 tdi engines have one please?or how to fit one if neccesary and where it gets the drive from? I'm still on the case and might end up answering my own questions, thanks in anticipation of any input, Pete
p.s. Hi Vandev, yeh! living in a little slow pueblo, keeping busy with a couple of projects

I have no experience with TD Disco's, but my old vw diesel had a pump that was belt driven off the engine.

Default electric fuel pump 200tdi

So! been on the blower (wonderful thing this internet) to a mate in Slovakia, good mechanic with a bit of experience with Land rovers. He reckons the electric pump should be easily replaced with the lift pump.Apparently there is a cam behind a plate where the mechanical pump fits, probably the electric pump is using the same studs to secure it to the block. This of course is hearsay and the nearest discovery for me to take a look at is a long way off.Perhaps someone may have some photos or insight into this. I've sourced the pump, land rover 94 pounds, other (brit pumps)19 pounds..? many thanks Pete P.S. Thanks Kenk
