Default 285/ 75r16?

well, I've been reading the LR forums for a bit now....I've had my stock '99 D1 since early November and have been slowly fixing the parts that go with age. I'm just about done with that am going to start acquiring the parts to lift it. I'm trying to decide between 3" Rovertyme and the Lucky8 4.5" coils. I'll be running 285/75r16 on the stock alloy rims backed by spacers. also planning on running fender flares (cut fenders). I don't doing anything extreme anymore, but will get it twisted up pretty good on occasion going in and out of small ravine and such here in Nevada. will the 285s clear and stuff OK on 3" springs with cut fenders, or do I need to go up to the 4.5"? pics and input are always appreciated....also not interested in 2" lifts or 265s.....going to upgrade to 4.10 gears, lockers, high strength axles, etc.

thanks!

You should be fine with a 3" and cut out flares. I run 33x12.50s (305-70-16) on a 4" and cut outs.

Sorry for the bad pic but its all I have on my phone. The cut outs are a PITA on the rear doors but they open up the wheel wells a lot.

Thanks Skate. Yeah even after gear swaps I use my GPS as a speedometer LOL but with 4.37 gears and 35" tires my speedo is pretty close now. I will say that I have more in suspension, gears, lockers, tires, etc...... then what I paid for the truck. Once you get past that magic 3" lift on these trucks it seems like its a never ending fix an repair or oh look if I spend more money itll drive nicer again or hey thats a cool part thatll give me 1" more flex (yeah I have a sickness LOL). With that all said ever since I bought it I wanted to have 35"s under it well I got now, the point is if you can do anything to these trucks you want it just takes time, money, and imagination.

Yeah I have double cardan shafts front and rear, caster corected radius arms 6*, caster corected swival ***** 3*, high offset tie rod ends, superlift steering damper with D90 relocation, and D90 brake upgrade. In the rear I have adjustable X-engineering fitted on Rovertym trailing arms and Rovertym extended A arm set up.

Thanks for the input! Nice rig! It looks like I'll start with the 3".....then see if I want to go bigger all around, tires and all. All the other rigs I have built have been built around 35" Boggers.....but like I said I don't go on any extreme rides anymore. Just want to build something real capable. Here's a pic of what I am starting with....just needs a VSS and O2 sensors.

ETA: having probs with the pic server link

Man you must have my yearly salary dumped in that beast. Id love to get that far with mine, Im still catching up on repairs... Just dropped 200 on a new master cylinder. once you get on top of things and stay there im sure its not as bad dishing out a couple hundred here and there for suspension and off road items. SORRY to hijack

here what 285s on stock wheels and 3" rte springs with a little cutting to the rear quarter panel looks like somewhat stuffed. you wont need fender flares.

Stop this is making me want 285's.

255s km2s look so stupid because they stretch the sodewalls. I got tread on the side of my tires.

But the discovery ain't strong enough for 285s. Regear is a must.

I'll prolly go with 265/75 next or 235/85
