Starts, idles and runs great until..

When out four wheeling or climbing and under heavy load it dies. Restarts no problem. However whenever under a load it will die before I can get wheels to spin only when climbing or stress on motor. Fuel issue under heavy load or air problem?

 

Have you recently changed the fuel filter? Should be done every oil change on a 300tdi from my understanding because they can cause a multitude of problems if neglected.

 

Think filter could cause that? I guess Im throttling pretty good to get the torque I need. Will change filter this week. I have one ready to change but didnt think that could cause it. Thanks

 

300tdi is a fairly simple diesel engine. Wouldn't be surprised if the fuel filter causes it. It's a maintenance item anyway, so might as well try it.

Side note: There's a youtube channel called Land Rover Toolbox Videos. They have pretty much covered everything there is on the 200tdi and 300tdi so you should check them out. They also do TD5 stuff too.
