Default '96 Discovery SE7 will not start...

I just got this home two days ago...

- 2" Lift
- ARB Winch Bumper
- Winch 9K
- PIAA Lights
- Dual Sun Roofs
- SlickRock Rock Sliders
- Skid Plate
- New Rear Prop Shaft (Installed two months ago)
- New Water Temp Sensor and Water Reservoir (Installed two months ago)
- New Optima Yellow Top Battery
- New gas tank due to recall

Well I did not know not to open the passenger door with the key after locking it and setting the alarm from the driver door (they didn't and do not have the Fob remote for it). The horn went of for what seemed like for ever, but finally got it to stop. But the light on the dash was flashing on and off and it would not start... So I looked up tons of posts all over about the way these things "lock down" and will not start. Read through tons of posts on how to reset the alarm, all of that and I finally got the light on the dash to stop flashing.

But it will still not start. Granted I live in a very cold area of Colorado it has been in the cold here in colorado for many years before coming from Ohio, this according to the VIN run I did on it. I should mention that when I went and drove it a couple days ago it ran fine and then started easily when I started it to take it off the trailer. And yes it does crank over...

So I'm stuck and have no idea how to even start looking at this and I'm sure the dealer is hellish expensive, not to mention 2.5 hours away from me. So any ideas? I hope I get a response or two. I visited this "landroversonly" site and no one there cares to respond, first board I have ever been on that I didn't get a response from at least to say hello and welcome!

Did you try locking and unlocking the door several times to reset the immobilization protection? That's the method I used to reset it when I disconnected the battery.

Yes I tried the door key thing and as I said above the light on the dash stopped flashing. So now I'm not sure what the issue is. I suppose it could be that the immobilization is on I dunno. Frustrating to say the least.

Buzz I did look at the other thread and asked there also but if there is an updated link to that part that would be great, as it no longer works? I looked around that site and did not find this part, of course that does not mean its not there.

Thanks Spike I think I posted here before you replied over there, at least before I saw it over there. Of course that is the first site that I found and thought I'd be nice and support it, looks like I wasted $40 on a "lifetime" membership .

I had been looking at that truck too....seemed like a helluva deal, congrats. Did you pay much less than asking...if you don't mind, I'm just curious.

Cheers.

This site aint so alive either specifically when it comes to tech help that's still around. Rave PDF's don't count.

You did for now. It'll come in handy sometime. You'll notice I'm a supporter because it was once an indy site not under the autoguide buying spree. I supported it then, not now.

I'd agree that a write up with current photos of a truck being worked on are best. But when a guy asks for help, and does not even know what the RAVE is, the a pdf may get him rolling and at least thinking about downloading the RAVE.
