I have a 2000 D2, That is now a parts truck, the motor, drive train are all great, the frame however has suffered from rot on the inside by the cats..

I bought a 97 D1 that was set up with body armor, bumpers diff gaurds, and sliders from Lucky8llc.. Justin did and does strong old school meets new school work on this truck!!!!! Rover Dog I'm sure had his part in this truck as well....

I added all my comm devices, offroad lights and the winch.. I also added quick connect jumper cables that plug in under front bumper,AAA style. So with all these extra power hungry beastes I wanted to beef up the alternator to help the battery.. Will a alternator from a 2000 d2 with a bosch 4.0 motor, fit in my 97 D1 with a 4.0 ?..

Mounting, pulley depth and wire connections are only an engine bay away for you. I'd give it a dry fit to see if it would work. 30 more amps for free if it does. Mean Green is in your neck of the woods, 200A alternators.

 

If you're wanting to run a bunch of crap.. I'd definately go to the big 200A alternator and be done with it...Dual batteries, Winch, Lights, Stereo, Fridge, P.A. system, etc...

The alternators are different, and there is no output for the tach on the D2 alternator as far as I know.
