97 Disco has run perfect. Then doesn't start, then starts...
I have one question: when the engine DIDN'T start, was the yellow "Check Engine" light on the left side of the instrument cluster illuminated? If it is not on, the engine will not start on your model D1. What I always do is to turn the key to on and then STOP and look for the CEL. If it is on, start the engine, if it isn't on, turn the key back to off for ~5 seconds and then turn ignition to on again.
She has been running great since the incident. We spent a deal deal of Dad/Daughter time this weekend working on her and cleaning her up a bit.

Interesting! My 98 (built 10/97) has a yellow check engine light on the far left just above the red brake light.
BTW, what condition would cause the check engine light to not be on but the starter to crank? Ignition switch? Shift lever switch? Brake not pressed?

Just looked again, Tom. yellow check engine light on the left and red "service engine" light on the right. I haven't looked it up yet, but I suspect the service engine light is mileage related while the check engine is obviously code related as i see about every other drive in mine.
Yes this would be extremely helpful. I'm only thinking ground at Battery, car body, and alternator. I'm sure there are many more.
Easy to find, have you downloaded the rave manual?
Like I said remove and clean batt ground, add ground from batt to rad support, batt to engine this will fix alot by getting your voltage up
