Going to look at a 98 LSE today. I'm going to check it out real good! It looks nice in the photos. We'll see how it looks in person. He is asking $2700 which sounds ok. What do you guys think about a price if it checks out?

Mileage, maintenance, quantity of off-roading, and whether or not it has every overheated are the basics.

Went and checked it out. I came home without it. It checked out good until I drove it. Had a buzzing whining sound under acceleration. Sounded like thr tcase. The owner is a put gas in and drive it kind of guy. Too bad as it was otherwise pretty nice. The search continues.

You did the right thing, and thanks for telling the group what you found. As part of your search, you could use www.statewidelist.com, which will scan all of craigslist for one state, filter for what you specify, and price range, and sort the output by city. Some states have 50 - 100 or more Rovers for sale just by owner.
