Savannah your method does work if I turn the key to the # 2 position 4 times it will start but not if i don't do this. Yesterday if left me stranded for an hour and a half. Driving along about 30 minutes from home went to a store was inside for about 45 minutes came out started the truck drove it about 25 foot it stalled and would not start until 1.5 hours later. Temperature never rose above 192 according my UG, also the truck and the A/C do not get along at all, the doesn't overheat but it will stall in slow stop and go traffic with the AC runnning even on low.

I will mention that when it started yesterday after stalling when it finally started the engine had a knock for a few seconds. So is it overheating and all sensors and gauges are wrong ?

I'm guessing that the following codes could be the culprit P1177 and P1179

If you are having to prime to start then either fuel pump is not working as it should or you have things leaking down. There is a pressure fitting (tire valve) on the passenger side, you can check that and see what kind of pressure you get, can use a tire gauge. 32-34 PSI is desired when pump is running. Check fuel pressure regulator driver back corner of intake manifold, has a six inch long vac hose to examine. Fuel filt changed within memory (over an dslightly ahead of right rear wheel arch)?

When it won't start hot, plug in a spare spark plug and lay on manifold, carnk to verifyt you are getting sparks. No sparks in this situation usually indicates crank position sensor.

like ihscouts says, the fuel pressure is key, and you can test it cheaply, may be able to rent a fule pressure gauge if you like. You already know it is not where it needs to be by virtue of having to prime.

IHS Scout / Savannah -

Took your advice and checked the pressure at the fuel rail. Low and behold my pump was only pushing 10psi WOW, so I ordered the AirTex 3270 with the TS7 strainer put it in last night and now she's pushing 32 - 35 psi. Start's right up and runs like a whipped dog.

Just a figure of speech, I guess it was poor choice of words to use as a reference.
