Default 99 dico sd steering

Hi all,
I have a 99 DICO SD,
the steering use to be really tight and it drove really nice,
as of lately the steering has loosed up and now my disco is hard to keep straight while driving over 55 mph, when I let off the accelerator at that speed my disco wanders left to right.
I have not a clue, any help is appreciated

I would start with a visual inspection of your tie rods and links. Have someone sit behind the wheel and turn the wheel back and forth while you look at the steering linkage. See if you see any excess movement(parts not moving together...loose). Then determine if you are going to fix it yourself or take it to a shop to fix.

And stop driving it over 55mph until it is fixed.

IF all you're steering rod ends are in good shape, the looseness you feel could be in the steering box itself. There is an adjustment screw on top of the steering box held by a 19mm jam nut. Loosen the jam nut, tighten the adjusting screw(some are allen head, some are torx head), but not too tight. Tighten the jam nut and drive and see how it feels.

But as stated above, I would look for worn components first.

Look for unusual/excessive play. The steering components should move together.

Checked for play in the ends, all the components move smoothly together, so I am at a loss I also tried adjusting the power steering unit, with no difference, I have also noticed that I have excessive play in the steering wheel before the tires began to turn

Take it to the closest suspension shop for a free inspection.
Then let us know what they tell you and the price quoted.
