Default 99 disco on craigslist

Been away for awhile, and my search continues. So here I find another discovery for sale. Everything looks in order and I'm considering going for it, just wanted to get a second opinion. And yes I know the title is false as this disco is a series 1 not series 2! Dealer probably doesn't know that much about land rover.

It "looks" good, but none of the pictures show any of the normal rust locations, or the where any of the usual oil leaks would be. I'd call them and ask before driving out there... Is that pretty close to you?

Yeah I agree. Usually the rear inner corner panel wheel arch area is rusty for some reason. Need to see the engine as well. Um the rover is located in ny, a good 3 hour drive from my place in northern nh.

Broken tail light in the rear bumper, heavy wear on the driverseat and wear on the back seat, look how the leather is not smooth, that means the padding is on its way out or a really heavy person used to sit there.

Do you know what size lift is on the truck you have now?

Fyi, I've looked at 2 trucks in person they were selling years ago when I lived in Greenpoint (Polish Brooklyn). They sell piles of hot **** wrapped nicely. Waste 3 hours each way if you want but make sure and ask to take it to a mechanic and ask for a car fax. They'll run for the hills faster than Al Quida. I'd think you'd want to stay away from vehicles from the North let alone Jamiacan Queens if your trying to do this right. Do some research on who your buying from next time. I'd strongly suggest buying from a Rover Head if I were you. Some details on the seller.

One more point to consider. These "budget sellers" by from cars from dealers and auctions. Dealerships make less than 15% of there profit from the sale of new cars. They make the rest off of maintenance of those new cars and most of it from used cars. If these guys want 3k, that means they paid 1200 -2000k for it. Why in the world would a car dealer that stole this for less than a 1200 bucks on trade not resell this on they're own lot? Just food for thought but I'm guessing its a polished turd.

Many good points, thanks once again. I'll keep looking elsewhere.

I always wanted to take one andconvert it to a BBQ Smoker on wheels. Mount a firebox in the engine compartment with the meat hanging on spits above it. Raise the hood to use it as a large surface area grill. Lower the hood to use as a Smoker. Load the back with firewood. Tow it with my Discovery.
