I have a '95 and needed mine to pass inspection so I did the quick fix and took the bulb out...

Default OBD11 plug orientation

My antilock light is on, found this thread, but no luck with getting it to flash the codes. I have a '99 D1, so I'm assuming all I have to do is stick the paper clip into slots 5 and 15 on the OBDII port, turn the key to the second position, then read the flashes?

I found what I think is the OBDII port at the bottom of the dash, just a black plastic female wiring harness thing. So there's only two ways this plug can be oriented, yes, if you're looking at it left to right? Either it's 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 across the top, then 9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16 across the bottom, or if it's inverted, it's 16-15-14-13-12-11-10-9 across the top, and 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 across the bottom, all numbers being read left to right? Then all I should have to do is stick the end of a paper clip into slots 5 and 15, turn the key to position 2, then read the flashes?

I've tried this, and I'm getting no flashes...

The pin out configuration is mentioned in the very first post. As far as getting flashes, I think, even on an OBDII truck you still have to remove the relay for the ABS light before you will see any flashing.

Someone else mentioned that the plug-in might be upside down, so I tried that as well, with no luck. Sounds pretty simple in theory, but as usual, it's in the application/execution piece where it fails. So I'm back to square one, with an antilock light on...

Did you look to see if you have an ABS light relay. The relay that triggers the ABS light on the dash? If you do, you need to remove that before you start with crossing wires. On 14CUX Rover it's under the drivers seat on the left. I'm not sure, off the top of my head where it is on a GEMS DI.

The ABS warning light relay looks like it's on the tray that drops down from behind the glove box. There's a 13mm nut that keeps the tray up and out of the way. It's the tray that has the Lucas 10AS alarm ECU (the green box about 5"x3"x1"). It looks to be either the first green relay to the left of the alarm ECU as you are facing forward. It's pictured in the RAVE 1996 DI ETM in Section Z5 page 50.

Try removing that relay and see if you get the flashing sequences.

The pin out numbers are embossed on the Data Connector.

My 98 D1 flashes the codes by jumping pins 5 and 15 of the OBD II plug and no relay removal was required (I used a switch across them so I could erase codes from the driver's seat).

My codes were all front sensor gap or wiring, but when I check the sensors from underneath to push them down they seem to be flush. Is there a trick to pushing them down? Is it more obvious if I pull the wheels?

BTW, my OBD II plug hole was keyed for the plug to be installed up side down; I wanted to put it right side up but it wouldn't fit that way. Maybe my D1 was built for Austraila?
