ABS light on D1, comparable to Three Amigos?
My ABS light has been on since I bought the Disco. Brakes are somewhat soft, which I've read is not uncommon on the vehicles, but still stop the truck just fine. (Slightly improved since changing the fluid, but that's another topic...)
I found this writeup explaining how to modify the ABS on a D2 to get rid of the infamous "Three Amigos" warning lights. (Basically running two new wires, one for a ground and one for the harness.) The ABS unit appears to be the same as what my D1 has. (I assume both are stock for their respective year and model.) Will this also clear my One Amigo issue?

Probably not...But have no fear.. Look in the D1 Tech section..
At the top of this forum...OK Fine... Look Here..
There's an article there about jumpering the diagnostic connector and getting the ABS light to flash a code telling you what's wrong...
Then you can hopefully just fix the issue and off you go..
Good Luck

Spike, Not to hijack this thread.. BUT !
My ABS light is on as well.. I just tried to jumper the connector and it doesn't seem to do anything.. Tried two different sizes of paperclips and made a jumper with tinned ends.. Can't get the light to blink...
Just stays on all the time...
Any insight ? A relay that's aready been pulled or a fuse ?

Many people just pull the ABS fuse to disable the crappy D1 ABS. I actually pulled out the entire ABS modulator and replumbed the lines. I also pulled the ABS bulb to get rid of the light. The problem is the ABS on these vehicles is known for failing at any given time, even when the ABS light isn't on. The result of an ABS failure can send you sliding into an intersection.

I've never done the blink thing and never will because I dont care, so I have no idea what you're doing wrong.

So pulling the ABS fuse will prevent this from happening, I hope?

Ok, Here's the skinny on mine.. In the article it shows the pin outs of the ODBII connector... BUT when looking at it in the truck..Mine was UPSIDE DOWN...
Doh...
Once I figured that out.. I got a 2-6 on mine.. Stoplight switch...
Should be easy enough to figure out...
Spike, You might want to make it obvious in that article that the connector could be upside down in the truck.. Now that I have it apart.. I see that it could be installed either way..
