my abs light has started to stay on when driving from cold. Afer a couple of minutes if I turn of the engine, restart it goes out like normal. Any thoughts on this?

In the DI tech section is a "how to" on checking the ABS trouble code, start there.

Or save yourself the hassle and pull the fuses and pull the bulb. Rover abs sucks

I've done the ABS checks before starting the new thread and got a front right sensor problem.. fixed that and it seemed to be fine. now it's coming on only when the engine is cold and only sometimes...
Pulling the fuse isn't really an option in Denmark I'm afraid... If it's fitted with ABS it's got to be there and work for inspection...

Pull the fuse then the bulb. It's what we do.

*Disclaimer
"We" pertains to the people who don't like ABS and still need to pass inspection. Not the die hards that like to fix their ABS only to hurl over a cliff because they couldn't stop because of reasons that pertain to ABS

Here in the great state of South Carolina they don't inspect crap, thank goodness!...I understand this doesn't help you much but I really can't offer you any advice with ABS. Only thing I can think of is to remove ABS completely. Pull the sensors, wiring, modulator and replumb the brake lines as they would have come in a non ABS vehicle. When there is no light with ignition just politely pop the hood and show them that there is no ABS. Brett (fishEH) has done this and I'm sure he would help you out if you had any questions.

The problem with that is that in Europe if it came on the car from the factory it must work as designed no matter what, if not you fail and cant drive it.
