Hello all,

Joining the group here with a new to me D1 LSE. I hail from the P38 and 'old' BMW world. Picked it up a few weeks ago and have been going thru it in preparation for a trail run with a Land Rover club out of Columbus. I've hit the trails in my P38 with them in the past. It's a beast but it's also a bit too pretty and needy to beat up regularly. So the D1 will be the trail pig. Lookin forward to seeing what she can do!

So THAT's what mine's supposed to look like! Good to know....

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the pic. I'm (Epsom) green with envy.

Learn and get familiar with the CDL. The D1’s are very capable but only if the driver knows what they are doing. Good luck!

usually, i'm not one to encourage Garage Queening (is that even a term?), but that '98 looks to be in great shape and has a few touches particular to that year. the painted rear bumper finishers and the chromed door handles to name a couple. i believe that was only done on the 50 year anniversary editions. does the truck have a badge anywhere on it?

i'm not sure i'd go beating that up on the trails.

I have a 50th anniversary, no painted bumper nor chrome. It has the 50th stickers in the rear side windows , only place stating the edition.

The pics make it appear cleaner than it actually is. Someone definitely 'parked by feel' on most of the corners, there's some pretty good paint fade.... and sadly some rust. She's a good 20-footer but no cream puff. I think the color on this one may actually be British Racing Green.... but i haven't found the paint code yet to be certain. It's got the '50th' decals in the rear quarter windows but nothing else. This week is fluid changes and swapping tires. I installed a 2" OME HD lift and replaced some steering bits over the weekend along with a brake flush. Happy i can bleed this thing 'normally' as opposed to the 57-step procedure for the P38 brakes

Only the LSE had the chrome accents. There really isn’t a 50th Anniversary Edition so to speak. If your Discovery is a 1998, it has a decal on the rear windows to commemorate 50 years 1948-1998.

actually there is a real 50th anniversary edition - it has a metal badge on the inside with a number (I think there were only 50) and it has special yellow pinstripes (I think they were only painted green) I forget which green code - maybe each US dealer got one ? not sure about ROW market ? sure that info is available here somewhere
