I bought my '96 Disco for 500$ asd think I am the luckiest SOB around, all I have needed so far is a master brake cylinder got at salvage yard 20.00. I did my research before I bought and knew it would be a love to work on it relationship. I went ahead and printed the entire RAVE manual and it is now my beside reading , along with my nursing school books. My 9 yr old son loves riding in it, and is hassling the snot out of me for a roof rack. He can't seem to understand that the damn thing costs twicwe what I paid for it. I have found out that 2 of my previous owners were LR mechanics. and hv done a helluva of a lot of GOOD work to it. Salvage yards are your best friend or worst enemy. The local bubbas here see LR and think it is made of gold. Just haggle and don't be afraid to walk off from them. Doubt there will be any takers knocking his door down for what you need. Good luck and realize that it is an awesome vehicle that will love to test you more than your kids can at times.

bought mine from a family friend about 3 months ago. wow dumped in about 1k so far in parts. i do everything myself. so far i have replaced almost everything on the outside of my engine. all fluids and greased everything. i picked mine up for 1700. so really not bad. i knew going into this i would be under her and become a grease monkey again. used to own 2 1980 cj 5 jeeps. this is actually better than those. Jeep Just Empty Every Pocket. so if you buy a landy make sure you know how to work on it. also look into replacing things soon as you purchase the rig. i love my land rover and i don't plan on selling her anytime soon. my wife and my son have also become attached to our little money pit. i think my wife is starting to love the landy more than her 1980 cj5. shocking to me.
