Alarm (AMR 4885) bypass/wiring schem???
1996 disco
this part is going bad and will randomly start the hazards as i'm driving down the road. i can unplug it while driving, but i have to plug it back in in order for the beast to start again.
i want to remove/bypass it. anybody have the schematic for this? or even done it?
i am slowly but surely 'de-wiring' my rover. hopefully soon i will be down to just the ignition and ECU to get it running. very tempted to just strip out all the wiring and redo it myself to it won't have all this extra crap.
thanks

is that the green box up under the right side of the dash? If so, I don't think it can be bypassed, I think it talks to the ECM... not 100% on that. On my old D1, the plastic was all busted on that, and it would fall out on the floor. If you kicked it, it would trigger the motion sensor of the alarm and nothing would start. I am pretty sure that if you replace it, you will have to reprogram your remotes. The rave doesn't show anything about resync'ing it with the ECM, like for the D2 though... unless I missed it.

I am slowly doing surgical removal of lots of my extra wiring as well.
Whatever you figure out, keep us posted on! I gutted the carpets and most of the interior panels as well as the headliner and backer from mine, cut out the rear air wiring in the very back, removed the dead amp from under the passenger's seat, ripped the dead stereo out of the dash, removed the stereo switches and such from the barnacle binnacle. Right now the entire center console is removed and will be replaced with some vintage whiskey case from Scotland. I plan to relocate those fuses and stuff from under the edge of the driver's seat. I already rebundled and rerouted the wiring that was under the carpet. What a mess the original LOOM is.
Made poorly, routed even worse for something you're supposed to be able to do some fording in. I may relocate the ECM into the cockpit area instead of under the hood on the wheel well wall.
thanks
