Alarm and fob problems
Hi all, with the all day rain the other day my '97 Disco got very wet inside passengers and the horns started blaring. Couldn't find the fob right away so I just pulled the
- battery cable. Now after drying out the alarm module I have no dash led, the fob will not work and the truck will only start if I pull the battery cable for 20 sec or so. I have another alarm module but I think you can only get the fob synced at a dealer.
Any ideas ? Also at some time the wiring has been fiddled with, on the green connector the solid green and the green with red tracer have been cut and on the gray connector there is what appears to be a red jumper with one end into the connector and the other just bare. It's a '97 D1
Thanks Tom

I dont have the wiring schematic infront of me to address that part.
The Fob can be programed at the dealer, or an independent rover shop that has the right obd2 device to put the 10as into learn mode.
I can program them but you would have to pull it from the truck and send it my way.
10as units generally cant be swapped in/out unless the ECU has been bypassed or you put it in learn mode to learn the new code coming from the 10as.

I have an annoying issue with the alarm. Every time I start, the alarm goes off 2 cycles of “be—-beep, be—-beep”. Trying to figure it out, annoys the neighbours at 5 am. Thanks. I have the alarm code. The FOB does work in locking and in-locking. I don’t know if I have to park facing true north or magnetic north.

Check to make certain your hood switch and all your door/cargo door switches are working properly. It'll drive the system nuts if they aren't

After checking out all of the door latches, it seems that the hood safety sensor is shot (upper rubber split in places, so dirt etc is in), so I ordered a new one from Bearmach. If this does not work, one approach is to cut off the burglar horn. Thought that removing fuse for theft system would do the trick, no luck. Alarm still sounded. Thank goodness I am not starting up at 6 am.
Other news, I have a set of poly bushes for the radius arm to replace. Interesting banging going on at low speed braking. Wheel bearing seems okay.
