Are you serious about drinking Pabst? PBR? Pabst Blue Ribbon?
I did not even know they still can that horse urine.

How much was the new alternator?

My tach has been whack for about two years now. It rarely works when the engine is first started. Then it suddenly springs to life. Ocaasionally it will come and go, but then it will work fine for a while. Changed alternators with no difference.

Have another one I plan to put in and see what happens.

Another issue with the electrical systems on these beasts is the corrosion that seems to attack ground connections.

Before you rip that starter out, take a look at where the ground cable attaches to the frame. If it is corroded or the cable is in poor condition, that may be your problem.

The RAVE contains all the electrical data, I highly reccommend you print the ETM (electrical troubleshooting manual) and refer to it before you go changing things drastically or you could regret it later.

hahaha. FWIW i've done like.....a hundred starters in these thigns. I could do it with my eyes closed. So if you wanna do it (right the first time) let me know. I'm happy to help. Or you could do it your way. Break it, and spend three days figuring out what you did.
