Default another fuel project

I was still getting P1313 and P1314 after new plugs & wires and unclogging the oil separator, seldom on the road but nearly always a flashing CEL climbing the hill at 20 MPH from the boat house, so I though a new fuel filter might help. I took a look before heading to the parts store and discovered why my fuel pump in the back was often noisy - apparently it is not pumping from the back any more. One more project to do now and no telling what I'll find under the access plate, but this may help explain why the Disco takes gas so slowly and only gets 10 MPG.

Well that's pretty interesting! Post a pic of what's under the access plate.

just some experience driven advice on the 98 ( cuz of the AEL) dont go for a used pump assy if its all missing.....several of us have had the tank pressure sensor go bad and f up other things like the iacv, tps and more...they are all on the same power circuit....if you can swing it >>find a new one......pay for it now, or really pay for it later ....lol

I measured 30 PSI running and it went up to 38 PSI when shut down and was still 34 PSI after several hours. Starting from cold with no fuel pressure it took half a dozen key-on cycles to go from 15 PSI (first cycle) to 30 PSI (sixth cycle) before starting. However it still kicks off immediately first key-on and crank even after sitting a day or two when I assume the pressure has bled off to zero.

In the archives I read "If it does fail, you don't have to replace the complete unit. AC Delco EP241 is the actual pump part number. Strainer is a Delco TS7. Tom Rowe" so I am hoping that might be a possibility as The gas level sender seems to work fine. I won't be digging into it for a few days because as the monsoons are about to return, but I'll post photos when I do.

I did take a look in the wheel well again while it was running to see if the non-clamped hose was leaking and I didn't see any, but I'll at least put a hose clamp on the suction side for now. If I was doing this jury rig I think I'd put the filter before the pump; I am amazed it has run as well as it has. I've no idea how long it has had this setup as that's what it came to me with.
