Default Another Possibility for Purchase, what's your guys' thoughts?

1999 Land Rover Trail Ready!!!

I want this one, bad. Just read all the accessories, expensive accessories at that. The only problem, price; he seems to be asking for everything he has put in to it....

-Discovery I 1999. Let's just say, $3,000
-Safari Roof Rack, $1,000
-3 Pair Hellas, $250
-Rack Ladder, $80
-ARB Front Brush Guard, $1,200
-Warn Winch, $500
-2" OME Lift and Shocks, $1,000

Wouldn't ya'll say this is fairly accurate?
He's asking $6,500; there's no way. I guess I'll just wait around and let the listing gain some age, and hopefully he'll start coming down. I believe I'd pay 5,500 in an instant. Guy seems to know what he's doing, it also has a different exhaust. Thoughts my amigos?

If you're so anxious to spend your money, why not put it into the Disco you already have???

Just curious....

Have you offered him $5500 yet? It looks good and yah, he's put quite a bit into it. It's your call, I know me and I'm impetuous and would prob start at 5500 but end up paying the 6500.

Yeah. You could upgrade your disco way cheaper than $6500. I wouldn't pay $6500 for ANY D1, unless it was a diesel. Also, windshields on a D1 are expensive. It's got body damage.

I never pay for the accessories. As far as I'm concerned, that's a loss you never recover unless you remove them and sell them individually.

Exactly. If you want me to pay extra.... it better be a GREAT deal. If you want me to pay full retail, or even half of retail for the upgrades.... just put the cheap parts back on.

No matter what 'extras' are thrown on it, it is still either worth the price of the vehicle, or the price of the extras. Not both.

I'm not "anxious," just excited. My disco is not worth it. My funds are as is; I don't have the up-front money required to modify a stock Disco. As you are aware; parts aren't on payments, but my income doesn't allow for up-front costs like that. I'm in high school workin' fast food..owning an LR, not a good combination, haha. I'll borrow around $3,000 from my parents, and gradually pay that back. Plus, I'm not savvy enough to install lifts, lockers, etc. You know where I'm coming from? I know it doesn't seem realistic to you guys, but that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Plus, I'm feeling my transmission slowly dying I do believe...I'm somewhat trying to get out from underneath it.

EDIT: Interesting take ChrisBob. But also, I haven't offered anything yet, he just put it on CL a few days ago

Ahhh, makes sense now....you're looking for a replacement Disco, not a 2nd Disco...that's MUCH more reasonable, especially for a high school kid....

To comment on your comment. I installed my own lift, you can do it as well, it is VERY easy. And with the "other work" you mentioned, some stuff is probably best left to the professionals, but, it's never too late to learn some of the simpler stuff. I am 27 and this is the first truck I've ever truly "worked' on. It's a learning experience and I regret not making myself learn earlier.
