Another Source for O2 Sensors
The o2 sensor socket works well and makes it easy, but you can do without it. Also, you can rent the socket from Advance or other auto parts stores for free, which makes more sense if you only use it once every 10 years or so. Good luck.
My used sensors came in today. I read the RAVE and went out and took a Look at it.
The RAVE says to pull the coil packs to get to the connectors, is there any other way without pulling coil packs?
Still cannot see back there worth a damn. Anybody who has done theirs got any input to improve access to connectors?

The drivers side is ALMOST impossible and I think the passenger side IS impossible with out yanking the coil pack. I did my driverside without but it took a lot of knuckle scraping and cursing. It's really back there above the bell housing pretty far into the firewall. I don't even know where the passenger side one is. But from having just done the intake manifold gasket I know that visibility/maneuverability is almost zero over there at the back of the motor. I'm assuming youve had your coil pack out before? Not a huge deal if you number the wires and screw out the coil pack posts themselves. I'm pretty sure I HAD to unscrew passenger front coil pack post to get the thing out.
I have not yet had to remove the coil pack, but all my new wires are numbered.
As soon as I get a nice day, I will ease into it. Have to build up the mental momentum first.
It will be nice to get the replacements in, change the plugs and oil and such.
Need to buy some good sipping whiskey and get the fire started. Invite some skimpily clad young girls to dance around the fire and help me get ready to GET ER DONE.
Jacuma, you should drop by. We could have some fun....
Bring some wild game, I got a nice new smoker and some peach, cherry, and pear wood along with some oak and mesquite chips.

Damn Danny, I was in Pittsburg last weekend and I've done o2 sensors before. Where's MY invite for scantily clad women, sipping whiskey and wild game on the smoker? Haha. Nonetheless the drivers side isn't terrie once you get eyes on it and just figure out what needs to be done. When I did mine I only replaced the one that had failed (driver pre cat) with the Ntk from amazon. But it crapped out about a year later. I'm wondering of that's related to back pressure and my Swiss cheese exhaust though. I'm hopeful it's that and not something more serious that would be burning out the one bank of o2 sensors super quickly.
I looked again but I cannot see how then hell those coil packs come off.
If you'll come back and do it for me, I'll get more of that Gentleman Jack, start a new fire, there's a whole tenderloin and some ribs in the freezer waiting.......
