Any one want to convince me not to get 245/75/16 Definity MT's

265 is 20 mm wider(sticks out 10mm farther on each side of the wheel) and 15 mm(.6") taller sidewall. That is just 1.2" taller overall(15mm top and 15mm bottom sidewalls).

I am not a fan of metric tire sizes so I switched to a 15" rim and now I buy my tires in inches 35x12.5x15r

basically this is what I know
245's are decently wide considered 31's
265's are decently wide considered 32's
I ran 235x85's for a while which are skinny 32's not sure if they make definitys in that size but a good size for a rover with 2" lift

Needless to say with any MT you're gonna lose gas milage. 32's is as big as you can go before regearing. I regeared to 4:11's when I went to 35's and now the ratios are supposed to be pretty much close to stock again. And they are around 200RPM higher than stock gears and 32's - if that makes sense

About an inch.

Calculating for 265/75...

265 x .75 is 198.75 mm height of section. Times 2 (top and bottom of tire) comes to 397.5, which converts to 15.6". Add 16" for rim, total is 31.6".

Similarly a 245/75 is theoretically 30.5".

But if you're going 265/75, why not 235/85? Will have a better turning radius and less trimming. Similarly, if you're going 245/75, think about 215/85. Narrower tires have less rolling resistance and look good on a rover IMO.

A 235/85 is roughly 31.7", while a 215/85 is 30.4". Classified as 32s and 31s respectively. You'll get the best gas mileage with a 215/85 out of any of the sizes we've discussed.

Oh and I recommend looking at BFG KM2s and Firestone Destination M/Ts. Have owned and loved both.

I agree on the KM2's had the same tire and size on my truck for a couple months before I went up in size. The KM2's are super quiet on the road, I was impressed. The Firestone Desination M/T's are pretty similar tread pattern to the Definity MT's. I'd say they would make for a good cheap tire. I had one as a spare for a while - I actually snapped this comparison pic the other day of my old spare vs my new spare.

Neither one of those is a Destination M/T. Wouldn't say it's a particularly cheap tire either. They wore like iron and let me plow snow with the front bumper of my 2WD F250, uphill.

Sorry I must not have been clear - The tire to the left is a Definity which I would say is fairly similar in tread pattern to a Destination, Funny shaped center pattern and fairly beefy outer lugs. The Definity is a good cheap tire. The tire on the left is an old style Goodyear MTR.

Any tire in 32" is cheap in my book

I like the 235 85 concept. I saw another member had done that with the Treadrights and said he picked up an additional 1.5 inches of ground clearance under the diffs just from the difference in the profile.

And with the capabilities of the Discovery, I do not think you need a really wide tire either. Improved turning radius would be an improvement also. And make sure you get a heavy enough sidewall rating. You want truck tires, not the typical 4 ply car tires.

I like the BFG brand as well. I would check out the 235/85's to see what prices you can get before you jump.

I had bought Bridgestone Duelers before I put new springs and shocks on. I stayed with the stock tire size. The next set I will most likely choose the 235/85's for the added height. With the 2 inch lift my Bridgestones look small in those big wheel wells.

A nice camel cut will also give you better clearance if you do find yourself off on some trails.
