Default Articulating the Rover

Last weekend when I broke my right rear shock it in turn let my spring fall out of my retainer (Rovertym) and became "cocked" in there on a coil, so I had to max it out to do some beating on the retainer to get it to seat back properly and snapped a few pics.. The left rear was jusssssttt starting to come up off the ground...

You should get some spring retainers or axle limiting straps. It's not wise to rely on your shock to limit the amount of axle droop.

Limit straps were standard on Series Rovers, I don't understand Rover not carrying on with them.

X2 I popped the ends off of a few shocks doing the same thing. Straps are cheap compaired to replaceing shocks.

Well I've got the RT retainers, what are you guys using for straps? I thought that maybe when it was all the way maxxed the other sides bumpstop would limit the other side from going any further?

Also, I measured a stock D1 and found that the bottom of the door (just above the rocker sill) was 16.5", I measured mine at 24.5". So its 8" taller than stock? Is that how you would measure how much lift you had?

Poly Performance JEEP/TRUCK & BUGGY :: Limit Straps :: Synergy Suspension Quad Wrapped Ultra Strength Limit Strap - 4X4 Off-Road Parts, JK Synergy Suspension Systems, Fox Racing Shox, Beard, CNC Brakes, Johnny Joints®, Currie Enterprises, Edelbrock,

I have these on mine, kinda like a seat belt. The only thing to stop downward travel on these suspensions is the shocks. I have seen guys using 1/4" cable to limit travel also. Just need to measure how long your shock travel is and you want the straps to be just a little shorter then that (1/2-3/4")

I think I'll order those today, I ordered Rancho 9000XL's 17.5" Compressed and 28.65" Extended, therefore I'd just need limiters 28" right?

28" will work if you mount them on the shock bolts. I have my bottom on the shock bolt and the top on the frame. My top mounts werent long enough to get the strap mounted very good, and it takes a lot of stress away from the shock mount.
