The 95 will not have a provision for a Crankshaft Position Sensor in it's bell housing since it uses a distributor. Your truck obviously doesn't.

So you'll need a 96 or newer manual bell-housing to fit your 99's Ckps. You'll also need a manual's Ckps spacer which is a different thickness than the auto's. You'll also need the flywheel from the 96 or later since it has the trigger wheel for the Ckps.

Beyond that the ECU doesn't care what you have bolted to the back of the motor. It takes/gives nothing signal wise.

Best of luck getting it all together. Better to pass on the 99 and buy a 96 or newer with the manual if that's what makes your boat float. Huge PITA to me........

Sounds like even if I get all this stuff from jack I'll still need a few pieces from a 96, 97 or 98 to make it work.

The 99 I found is minty. I think I'll still do this but I may have to ask for help along the way.

So, I need to find a spacer and a flywheel from a 96. And a bell housing.

This must because of the introduction of GEMS in 96 I assume?

The flywheel I'm looking for must be unique to the manual vehicles too right?

Will Jack's clutch from his 95 work with the flywheel from a 96 or later?

I just did a search for a bell housing and the same part is listed for 94 thru 97. are we sure the bell housing is different between the GEM cars and the non GEM cars?

From what I've been told the main difference between an ECU for an auto and one for a manual is that when you depress the clutch pedal the ECU for the manual truck shuts down the injector until the pedal is released. The automatic ECU would not know to do this but I don't know how detrimental it would be. This is probably a question better answered by PT Schram.

I should add that I have heard of people using the auto ECU's on manual trucks.

That's odd. It seems like that would make it impossible to downshift properly.

the shutoff could easily be reversed after the throttle was applied
ill have to pay attention next time i drive mine...

most engine management has some provision to turn off the fuel after coasting in gear for some amount of time though, and in my experience this doesnt vary between auto and manual, though i cant speak specifically to the D1s...

Then how are you supposed to push the clutch in and rev the engine to impress your friends?

Not that it's the final word, but Microcat lists only one bell housing for the V8, UNB100190

I think any NAS manual flywheel will work.

True, but you also wouldn't be able to idle with clutch depressed.
