Default Bad Tranny worth fixing??

I have a 94 with 170000 miles transmission doesnt shift into gear right away, and takes a second to grab between gears. When in gear seems fine no noise. The shop wants 800 to see whats wrong and that will be applied towards fixing if I opt to fix it. Anyone having any experience with this I would love your feedback. The truck runs welthe body and interior are showing their age. Thanks

So, what does the fluid look like, is it brown, burned, low or totally neglected? When was the last time you serviced it?

A used Disco for that in some places, a tranny in others.

"It was flushed a few years ago", you could try getting a filter and gasket set and drop the pan to see how it looks, you may luck out, and if it is bad save the filter and gasket for the used tranny.....................
