Battery Light, P0560, No Gauges working
Could it be as simple as just the alternator, or something more?
Here's the run down:
Here's the run down:
- Gauges stopped working
- Battery light came on
- SRS light came on
- Wouldn't start, battery wouldn't charge, wouldn't hold after jump
- P0560 code via ODB2
- No door lock chime on second lock (feel like it did before? is something draining the battery?)
- New battery installed, car starts (no SRS light now)
- Gauges still not working
- Tested alternator - doesn't seem be charging battery (ordered new one, waiting on delivery)

Hey James…
Here is what the OBD2 code states: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0560
Check that page. First, your dead battery was the ‘effect’, not the cause. The cause, most probably, is the alternator. But, if you read the code from the above link, there may be a couple of other issues. Given the most probable issue is the alternator, you’re likely to get everything worked out. The alternator sends electricity throughout the vehicle and that may be the reason for the error. Certainly the PCM was likely not receiving adequate power.
I’d say you’ve probably solved the issue.

agreed. very likely your alternator.
Depending on how much work you are able to do, a voltage regulator may fix the problem rather than purchasing an entirely new alternator.
