Default Bearing # verification

I'm basically looking for verification that the timken set 37 is what is wanted for the front end of a 96 DI. I've seen it here before but Amazon claims it does not fit this vehicle. I'm gonna trust you guys way before some idiot algorithm in the auto parts dept at amazon.

I'm looking there 'cause they have the 37's for like $10 instead of $26 at AB.

(Unless theres some freaky knock-off bearing industry I should be warned about?)

And set means one bearing and one race? so order 4?

order 8, you have 2 per wheel (inner and outer) same bearing though. Yes its the correct bearing.

Thanks. I'm just doing the front for now but good to know they are all the same.
Actually just needed brakes but everyone recommends doing bearings when I replace the rotors so..

Don't put of doing your rear bearings also, they also wear and can cost you big time if they fail.

Two things.

Wow, what a great price for genuine Timkens. They haven't made them in years.

And, wow, how worthless and misleading can Amazon's compatibility chart be???

What do you mean they haven't made them in years? They're still listed in the current Timken buyers guide.

I had a friend who worked for Timken in CT. He lost his job there as an accountant because he didn't want to relocate to OH. He told me they were no longer making bearings and that was five or six years ago.

Next Dumb Question:
Does no-one just repack bearings anymore?
Are they that soft/weak?

Well I like to think "better safe than sorry" next time I do my bearings I probably will just repack.
