Blacked Out Wheels On My Disco
Got the idea from the thread about wire mesh grill.
I started by placing the truck on jack stands and removing the wheels.
Cleaned and sanded them, I used one can per wheel. 4 coats.

paint

before

after(spare wheel I have tried it out on it first)

yes i took the wheels off, i let them sit out under some good sun heat to bake a bit. next time i'll do the brush guard and other black parts
If I wash them, sand them, rewash with the tires on, then tape the tires off would that work? I've been wanting to do this for awhile. What grade grit did you use? And did you prime them? Overcoat?
to me it was easier with them off, no prime, grit was 120 i think, i'm at my girl's house so i cant go get it, no clear just flat black

i didnt take the tires off, but taking the wheels off was hell cause of the cover on the lugs. the tire was off on one cause its a spare rim i bought at the junkyard
Speaking of lugs, today I had to take a tire off so I could grind some rust off and my god I had to take a sludge hammer and beat the tire off! It was ceased on there! I hope I never get a flat on the road, If so, I am screwed.
yep that was the hardest part, i need to get the high lift jack
