Cool Blacked Out Wheels On My Disco

Got the idea from the thread about wire mesh grill.
I started by placing the truck on jack stands and removing the wheels.
Cleaned and sanded them, I used one can per wheel. 4 coats.

paint

before

after(spare wheel I have tried it out on it first)

They look pretty good. Maybe there is hope for my truck yet....

Did you do it with the wheels off? You will get a lot more mileage out of that paint if you bake them in the BBQ for an hour.

If I wash them, sand them, rewash with the tires on, then tape the tires off would that work? I've been wanting to do this for awhile. What grade grit did you use? And did you prime them? Overcoat?

Isn't it kind of a pain to get the unmounted and remounted and aired?

Speaking of lugs, today I had to take a tire off so I could grind some rust off and my god I had to take a sludge hammer and beat the tire off! It was ceased on there! I hope I never get a flat on the road, If so, I am screwed.
