Do you have any issues keeping them clean? What I mean is I’d be weary of using wheel cleaner on anything that came out of a rattle can. Does just plain car wash keep up with brake dust?

I used various cleaners on my rattle can rims over the years with no issues. I did use wheel paint though so ymmv.

Good to know. It’s been my main hesitation on going that route....

Same here, no worries. I've used Duplicolor Engine Enamel Paint (Satin Black DE1635) many times with no clearcoat and that paint holds up well. I use Simple Green (not diluted) to clean wheels and all is happy.
This paint works well on brake calipers too.

A bit off topic but I used some bbq grill excessive heat black spray paint for my 3 of my Disco 1 windscreen wipers. The chalky black color has held up for the past 7 months since I rattle canned them and installed them on my Disco 2.
It might work good on rims too.

I used duplicolor wheel paint on mine about 8-10 years ago and it has been used off-road many times. They are not perfect now but have been through plenty of abuse.

Cleaning them is easy, same soap I use to wash truck, dish washing soap. Every once in a while I spot paint but that’s it.
