Breakdown Story Time
This one I think yall will have fun trying to solve. Quirky Land Rovers....
After church I take a 20 mile drive to have lunch with my girlfriend. Right before I pull off the interstate I feel a jerk like I was running out of gas. My fuel was low, but now low enough to run out of gas. As soon as I got off the exit boom. Stoped. Just like as if my fuel was low. I figured the gauge is bad and with my current miles to tank that I got 14mpg which isn't totally unbelieveable.
I call a friend to bring me some gas but decide to try one more time to make it to the gas station about 3/4 mile away.
Starts up fine and I make it to the gas station and is fine while I was stuck in traffic. I got to the gas station went to fill up and pop the hood to check it out.
Find my radiator plug blown apart. Sweet. No coolant in the resivoir, it took about 2 gallons of water to fill back up, AND watching my temperature like a hawk it NEVER overheated or got past 200*. Ill admit it was the one day I FELT like driving fast, SO instead of 65 on the highway I was going about 85 with the traffic.
I get a friend to tow me to lunch with my girl cause I dont want to risk an overheat. After lunch i figure I can probably just find a temporary plug to get me home. I go to home depot and bring what remains of the plug.I find a PVC and a galvanized 1/2 plug [both fit] Put an o-ring on the PVC and headed home.

When I took off my temperature shot up to 210 which isn't very high but it is for my truck. so I pulled over, as soon as I did it dropped to 195. I put on tire up on a curb and poured in about 1/4-1/2 more gallons to the coolant tank.
Take off on interstate and all is looking well. Then I realize Im getting pretty hot. Go to turn on A/C and its already on. Not blowing COLD. I engage and disengage the compressor from the switch [im not stopping to check on it] but it did not work and I could tell from the LOD on my scangauge it was not engauging. Fine I roll down windows. Ill look at it when I get home. Coming down the street I try the button on last time and bam cold air..

It is the Land Rover Gods, they want you to honor them with some kind of pagan ceremony or they will strike again when least expected.
Have you developed a ritual yet? I face the sun and bow deeply three times while chanting to them.
When is the last time you took it out to commune with them in nature? They do not like to be iignored you realize that I hope.

As for the quitting...bad fuel temp sensor.
Mine would do that if it got to hot, like while offroading, she would just quit and then start back up and run alittle rough.
As for the a/c, the coolant spilling out at 85mph and covering everything under the hood got something wet, once dry the compressor works again.

Bad fuel temp sensor.. Ill pick up one of them too.
I feel like I need one of everything.

That should be our advice when someone pops on here and asks:

I wouldnt buy another fuel temp sensor, it was too hot from lack of coolant.
If the problem happens again under "normal" circumstance then buy one, other wise send me $20 and call it good.
