Ha, you guys are funny. My buddy also told me I was a dunce for considering selling a difficult to obtain part in perfect condition when I don’t need the cash. No jeepifying here my friends. I was considering changing to an ARB bumper w/o the guards because I love the anachronism of the boxy front end all by itself but I’d still like to have some powerful driving lamps for nighttime country roads. Though, to be fair, I may actually need it to guard against brush on my farm.

I just picked this beauty up, only 100k miles, overall very clean.

Issues I am sorting through:

PO had a broken window regulator that I replaced and the t-case shifter mechanism seized up as bad as anything I’ve seen but I eventually got it smooth again with the help of the forums.
- Headliner is sagging so I’ll deal with that in the spring by removing it fully and refinishing or painting.
- Refinishing the driver seat leather dye, not cracked but worn.
- Sorting out which 180 deg t-stat is best regardless of price
- Deciding on oil and other filters (Valvoline VR1 10w30 in winter? 20-50 in summer or rotella 15w40 lower zinc but closer to stock 10w40 recommendation?) + the Napa gold 1515 filter?
- I've got a slight clunk on the driver side front sometimes when rolling over fields at low to reasonable speeds that I’ve got to sort out, seems it may be the suspension as the bushing on top of that shock appears to be toast so I may get an OME setup +2" in medium duty? I don't want to have to modify anything else like brake lines etc and I eventually want some 7R16 tires. Already picked up some winter tires and defender white steel wheels.
- Going to flush out all of the various fluids as well and waiting on my ultra gauge to see what the temps really are.
- driver side floor pan rust that has not perforated, waiting on the metal prep + POR15.
- Making a list of whatever else "preventative maintenance" items I should do to keep her around for a long time since I’ve wanted one of these for over two decades.

Nice truck indeed. The brush guards are a nuisance. Sell it or put it in storage so it won't damage your lights and hood.

NAPA Gold 1515 YES
Shell Rotella YES

The clunk is likely old worn bushings.

I recommend OME MD springs and Bilstein shocks (Bilstein better ride than the OME)

There's an excellent maintenance checklist in the workshop manual. It covers all the basic mechanical systems, drive train, transmission, engine. Some good points that you may not think of. That's where I would start. Then rubber hoses for coolant and crankcase ventilation are easy and not too expensive for peace of mind, and good to change while flushing fluids. Be sure to lube the drive shafts often. That's my two cents worth. I won't make an offer on the brush guard.
