Default Bumper mounting points

Good afternoon everyone !! It's been a while since ive posted. But i have been lurking I'm interested in the Front bumper mounting differences between a D1 and D2, I've done a cursory look around and havent found anything directly focusing on This particular question. Could you bolt an aftermarket D2 Bumper to a D1 ? If not why ?

Thanks in advance for any explanations offered !

Pretty sure they will interchange. I sold my old bumper to a D2 owner and it bolted up.

Yes. I think someone just posted a thread about it not too long ago as well.

Why do the vendors show a fitment discrepancy between the 1 & 2?

It's not a perfect fit, but very close; but only with early D2s (Up to 2002). I ran an ARB on my D1 for a few years and nobody even noticed. It was about a 1/4" gap from the headlight finishers to the bumper.

D1's have three mounting bolts, two inline vertically and one a little farther back.
D2's only have two mounting bolts, the two inline vertically and they match up with the two on D1's.
So depending on if the bumper has the third bolt mount for a D1you may have to cut it off to fit a D2.
