Default Changing fuel pump

I'm replacing my fuel pump, ordered new fuel pump assembly from Atlantic British, can't get the ring off the fuel pump the holds it to the gas tank, any ideas? Also, my new fuel pump has a extra vent on the top, what is that for?

There were 2 styles of fuel pump based on your vin number, you may have the wrong one. check with A.B.

I'm gonna have that same issue in a few days.. I ordered a new ring but Trevor is out of them...

You need some pliers big enough to span the ring so you can get force on it...I'm not sure you could get a strap wrench in there..

Also you need to lube it up good....I've got some gigantic channel lock pliers.. I'm gonna start with those...Maybe another pair to twist with...Or a crescent wrench...

Let me know if you get yours apart and how you did it.. Sounds like you might have the wrong pump...

@jpspen I used a large screw driver and tapped gently till it started to turn freely. I tried calling Atlantic British but, they aren't open on weekends. Called Rovers North and their pump assembly is $99, it's a direct fit made by proline. Changing out the fuel filter today as well. This is a lil frustrating as I am DIW without the correct fuel pump.

I was able to get mine with my big channel lock pliers...Fuel pump changed without serious incident..

Fuel filter, Well that's going to be another story...

Gotta ponder that corroded up monstrosity..Soaking in PB Blaster as we speak..

Let mine marinate for 20 minutes in PB blaster, came off fairly easy. Just not the easiest spot to get too.

Fuel pump. Use a new sealing ring when you install the new pump.
Fuel filter. Cut the rubber lines just behind the pressed fittings. Replace with a double b-a-r-b-e-d(stupid censors) generic filter from the auto parts store.
