Default 98 disco 1 fuel system problem

Idiot here..... I ran my fuel tank low and my rover just stopped. Here is the starnge thing. The next morning it started great and ran for approx 3 seconds and shut off not to start again. My first thought was that debris may have the fuel line clogged, so i purchased a fuel filter. I am getting ready to install this today. Any ideas if this doesnt fix it???

The next step will be investigation of the wiring and fuse for the pump (do you hear it run for a few seconds when ignition switched on?). Bad thing about an immersion pump is that it gets cooling from the liquid it sits in. Running it very low or dry may take out the pump. And there is a post on a $20 pump. See https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...el-pump-53083/

It is worth changing the filter, if it has been a while you will need some PB Blaster on it.

The fuel pump always sucks off the bottom of the tank.

If you are talking about the nuts on the fuel filter you are going to have to split them to get them off.
I used a hack saw my first time, cut the nuts and then pried them off of the fuel line.
Now I replace my fuel filter once a year and use anti seize on the threads, takes 10min now, took over 3hrs the first time.
The ONLY reason I change it once a year is because of the threads rusting together.

I posted on the other fuel pump thread but what the hell.....
I cut the screw fittings off the rubber fuel line altogether at the filter. I then used a generic fuel filter.with a b-a-r-b on each end and two fuel line clamps. Loosen the clamps, pull the old filter out, push the.new one in, tighten clamps. Done.
