clock spring replacement
So a few months ago the bolt on the steering shaft came loose and I was luckily sitting at the curb when I found I couldn't turn the wheels, the steering wheel would just spin. Now my wheel is about 5 degrees off (which I can live with) and I just realized my horn doesn't work. I saw where the clock spring was mentioned as a reason for no horn and airbags. My SRS light also came on which I dismissed but now wonder if that could be the same problem.
Any help on how to replace the clock spring? I am guessing it is in the steering column under the steering wheel, never had that apart yet. What kind of problems might I run into?

Yup, sounds like a clock spring.
You need to disconnect the battery.
Remove the black plastic trim around the wheel/stalks.(3 screws)
I believe a T25 or T27, torx bit to Remove the two screws on the backside of the steering wheel (they dont come out all the way)
Remove the airbag and unplug the cable from it.
You need a 19mm to remove the steering wheel nut, thread it back on slightly so when you yank and tape the wheel with a hammer it doesnt smack you in the face.
After that remove the wheel, you will have access to the clock spring now. It snaps into the stalks, should be able to pop it off and pop the new one on.

Is there a max number of turns it will go? not sure what is inside one but I got a used one off Ebay and now waiting for a little less snow and warmer weather. There is some tape on it I am guessing to hold it from turning, Remove it when I install?? thanks for your help. I cause myself enough trouble when I work on this thing, but I do learn!!
