Default Code 1316 Issues

Hey guys, this is my second vehicle to have come up with an exhaust emission problem. This time it seems at little more serious though; the engine idles around 500 after its started, will stall if not revved when I stop, and the air intake makes a weird sucking sound. So far I've cleaned the air filter, the screen before the MAF and cleaned the MAF with electronic parts aerosol. For some reason the engines also has some kick back when I let off the gas. It shakes the rover. I know the fuel pump is good, it was changed about a month ago. Any ideas on what I can do would be great, thanks in advance!

Fromwhat I have read on previous posts on here, you should only use MAF Cleaner Spray. Try doing a search on the specific code. also do a search on maf cleaning, there are some do'd anddon't and I do not know them myself.

My 97 was really running rough and throwing 1374, 1378 codes with 115K miles on it. Changing the O2 sensors did wonders, the old ones were very sooty.

Thanks! I'll give it a try as soon as I get home.

Just got home today from school, first thing I did was take my Discovery to Autozone. They ran the engine codes and came up with 0300 which is multiple misfires. I'm going to check the timing and spark plug cleanliness in the morning. Any other ideas?

Coil pack? Sorry can't remember what year you have. Are you still getting the 1316 code?

Sorry, its a 1998. The 1316 code went away after I cleaned out the MAF, so hopefully I did something right there. But the 0300 code refers to a misfire in cylinder 3; my plan is to pull the plug and check if its dirty otherwise i'm going to pull off the intake manifold.

Mis fire codes are 98% of the time caused by bad spark plugs and plug wires.

The other reason would be a blown headgasket.

All the wires and plugs are new in my vehicle. Just pulled up a new code this morning: 1447. This has something to do with the purge valve, but that is also very new. I'm beginning to think the O2 sensors may be going bad. Please give me any feedback. Thanks in advance.

What plugs and wires did you use?

The spark plugs and wires are Autolite. i still have the 1316 code today, but the 1447 cropped up. I'm starting to get the feeling this is over my head.
