Default code reader

I live in North Carolina and our inspection requirements are pretty tough. I have a 96 D1 and my inspection is due. With everyone's help she is running great but I am concerned about the codes. Can anyone suggest a good code reader? At least i'll know what I am up against. Thanks everyone!

Thanks very much. Just took the tour on line. Looks like a great tool. Easy to operate and a ton of functions. I check it out more in the am! Thanks again

If you have a GEMS system then yes. If you have a 14CUX system then no. You can tell by placement of ECU (GEMS is in a plastic box on fenderwall on right side of Rover). Also by the style MAF, see attached. The 14CUX can be read by code display under seat or dealer scanner. If in doubt, stop by parts store for a free code read, if their reader won't talk to it neither will an untra gauge.

I know this is an old thread -

But does anyone have a list what sensor data is available for the OBD-2 to read?

I have a 96 Disco and am curious as to what sensors are present. The Torque software that I have loaded has many options - but I'm not sure exactly what data is going to be available to be read.

Thanks!

Well I can answer my own question now that i have run the Torque app and the ELM327 OBD-2 module.

There is a menu item that lists all of the sensors found!

Just wanted to update on the Ultra Gauge product. Amazing. For the first time in 4 years i was able to pass the NC inspection first time. Best $69.00 i have spent. A lot of credit must go to everyone who has answered my questions. By following the maintence guide and following your collective advise my 96 D1 is running great. Still have an O2 code to deal with after springs and shocks. Thanks again everyone you are awesome..

Hi there. I am interested in buy a code reader for my 97 disco. Are you still enjoying this one? Are you able to clear the codes so the lights go off? I have several lights on and really would like them to not be anymore!!! Thanks
