Default Computer Must Be Reset to Start 1996 Disco

Well, as a long time lurker and Rover fan I finally bought my first Disco (I'll be picking it up on Saturday). I bought it from an aquaintance of mine for $350, and there is an issue that I've never seen before. A quick search yields no results, but every time I try to start the truck, I have to pop the negative terminal for ten seconds to reset the computer, then it will start.

Has anyone even heard of this problem before? The truck was involved in a very low speed collision where there wasn't any physical damage. (The airbags were not deployed.)

My thoughts on the cause are that it could be related to the collision, and that the substantive values need to be reset.

Here's a picture, it has a Saudi Grille. https://i.imgur.com/cTbHyyF.jpg

So does it not crank or just not start?

It cranks but does not start. Pop the battery and try again and it starts.

it'll take me awhile to get the truck road legal, but it doesn't belch fluids everywhere which is good!

and yes, it has a 2 inch lift from HD old man emu springs, with nice big tires. I also get two spares which is nice.

When it's running it seems to be alright. I haven't seen it running for a very long time because it isn't in my possession yet, though he plans on driving it to my house on Saturday. Haven't tested the transfer case yet, but itdrives okay except for a bent tie rod. The owner backed over a stump when he was using it for hurricane Irene cleanup.

Probably could use a valve cover gasket, but there isn't any coolant in the oil, nor does it burn oil.

Edit: I forgot that I have the RAVE manual on my computer, so I'll look at that tonight.

Question

Bump, the issue is back. Seems to be intermittent.

So basically I did a test, when it cranks but doesn't start there isn't any spark. The fuel pump activates, so it has to be a computer issue. Last week when I reset the fuel cut-off switch, the issue when away for about 7 starts, but now it seems to random. Sometimes I will be able to start it after a night of sitting, sometimes within a minute of turning it off. Sometimes it requires the battery reset for it to work.

I'd imagine that there's a fuse that I can pull that has a similar effect to pulling the negative terminal, but this issue completely baffles me. I haven't found anything in the RAVE that would explain this, and the search results have yielded absolutely explanations.
