Default convince me from not selling it

Hi to everyone, i have a 93 disco 1 the dakar version, fuel injected 3.9 petrol, i have been struggling with some issues lately, but theres one i dont know how to fix, sometimes, when he wants, he runs great, some other times when he want the revs start to go lower to 100 and then up to 2000, and the exhaust start to smell heavy like gasoline, is runs bad and loses power, i have changed some sensors but my mechanic has made it so im starting to doubt from him, cause the trouble doesnt stop

maybe you can guide me i am not a mechanic but i want to learn

thanks

If this is true, download the service / repair manual, known as the RAVE, and start learning.
Search for all your issues on this forum. They're all here, trust me, nothing is new to rigs this old.
If you can't find your issue, post questions about your issue, not whether or not you should keep your rover.
Never refer to this thread again because we'll all tell you to sell it! My initial reply was going to be "Sell it" but I thought I'd be nice.
Keep it or sell it is up to you. Here's how you determine.
Do you enjoy working on your rig? If you answer no, sell it.
Can you afford bills from a repair shop that equal a mortgage payment? If you answer no, sell it, or fix it your self.
Good luck.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, post a pic of your rig, I have no idea what a 93 dakar looks like!

All I can say is it takes determination and a large desire to do it yourself because it will not fix itself and I doubt that any mechanic that is not intimately familar with it will do it at a price that will make you happy.

The problem with selling it in that shape is that you probably will not get much for it unless a gringo comes along with more money than sense. Best of luck.

But if you take the time to research it and apply yourself, you may as well keep it and tear into it. If that fails sell it as scrap, very little lost that way.

Bad coolant temp sensor.
Weal coil.
Needs a tune up.
Bad idle control valve.
Vacuum leak.
What has your guy done to it for far?
